How to Invest in Line With Your Faith, and Find an Advisor Who Shares It
By Christian Campbell, Business Development Manager | Published October 21, 2026
Many believers want more than good returns. They want to know that what they own reflects what they believe, and that the person guiding them understands that everything we have is entrusted to us by God. This guide explains Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) and what to look for in a faith-aligned financial advisor.
The short answer: Look for a fiduciary advisor who can show you exactly how portfolios are screened, who has training in biblical financial wisdom (such as the Certified Kingdom Advisor, CKA®, designation), and who builds generosity and legacy into your plan, not just your investments.
What is Biblically Responsible Investing?
BRI is an approach that screens investments using biblical values. It typically:
Avoids companies whose products or practices conflict with those values, as defined by the screening methodology.
Seeks companies that are a blessing to their customers, employees, communities, and the world.
Inspire Advisors' national investment team uses proprietary screening and the Inspire Impact framework to build these portfolios. Learn more on our Biblically Responsible Investing page.
What to understand about faith-based screening
Screening involves judgment. Deciding which companies align with biblical values requires subjective judgments, and reasonable people of faith may reach different conclusions.
Information can be incomplete or change. Screens rely on company disclosures and third-party data that may be incomplete, out of date, or change over time, so a portfolio may at times hold a company that would not meet the screen.
Screening may limit opportunities. Excluding companies reduces the number of investments available, which can affect diversification.
Screening does not predict performance. A screened portfolio will perform differently than an unscreened one, sometimes better and sometimes worse. Screening is not a method for improving returns or reducing risk.
A diversified, professionally managed approach is designed to pursue your goals while honoring your convictions. We'll walk you through how the screening works, and its limitations, before you invest.
What to ask a Christian financial advisor
Are you a fiduciary?
Do you hold the Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA®) designation, or similar training in biblical financial wisdom?
How exactly are portfolios screened, and can I see what I own?
How do you incorporate generosity and giving into a plan?
How are you paid?
Stewardship beyond the portfolio
Faith-aligned planning shapes more than investments: giving strategies such as donor-advised funds and qualified charitable distributions after age 70½, legacy conversations with children, and contentment in retirement. For business owners, it can also shape how and when you give around the sale of your company (see what to do with business sale proceeds).

Disclosure: For educational purposes only. Biblically Responsible Investing applies faith-based screens that involve subjective judgments and rely on information that may be incomplete or change over time. Screening excludes certain securities, may limit investment opportunities, and may cause performance to differ from portfolios that do not use such screens; it does not predict investment performance.
